Upon login, you'll see the Wordlist page. This shows the number of words in this fictional users list and how many have been mastered.
Click on the Start tab.
Click on one of the submit buttons marked with a number of words for the lesson. Continue as instructed to reach the first word exercise of the lesson.
The intent of the vocabulary exercises are three-fold.
Complete the brief exercise for the word. This amounts to first marking the correct missing word determined from the context of the excerpt shown. Then the correct definition is marked and submitted. This exercise is very effective at reminding the user of the meaning and usage of the word without taking too much time.
After completing the exercise, grade yourself by marking and submitting a number between 1 and 10. This number tells the computer how well you remembered the word. A score of 10 dismisses the word and the computer will never show it again. Scores of 7, 8, and 9 are "passing" scores and the computer will calculate the next date to review that word. A score of 6 or below is a failing score and the computer will schedule the word for repetition (with a different excerpt) a day or two later. Submitting the score brings up the next word exercise page.
The computer will design your lesson each day to review words so as to prevent forgetting. After all the necessary words have been reviewed, new words are added from your personal word list. You'll find your vocabulary continually growing with little forgetting of what you've learned before.
